Record Visitors for CTN and One Up at the Showman’s Show
Stand 98 in the Exhibition Hall at the Showman’s Show in Newbury was undoubtedly the place to be on 19th and 20th October. Buzzing with energy and dressed to impress with all the products that CTN and One Up Display Service offer to the Marquee and Exhibition and Conference Industries, the CTN stand was truly a sight to behold. Beautifully decadent suedes complemented luxurious leathergrain wall coverings; all set off against the quality cord and velour carpet displays that worked to create an eye-catching backdrop to a hubbub of animated activity.
140 people visited the stand, with many requesting samples and arranging visits to further discuss their requirements, keeping all five members of staff on the stand busy. “We had a record number of visitors to our stand this year”, commented Paul Slack, CTN’s UK Commercial Director, “It was amazing to see so many people stop and approach us for more information. We were delighted to discover that 132 of those visitors were people that have never ordered from us before. We will be contacting every person to ensure they have received their samples and to find out more about what we can do for each business.“
Many of these visitors were keen to stress that excellent service would be key to winning their business. As our existing customers can testify, this is an area that CTN excels in. All CTN and One Up staff receive in-depth training and follow policies and procedures to ensure that the client’s expectations are always met – and often succeeded.
“There is simply no excuse for bad service”, declared Emma Davies, CTN’s Sales and Marketing Executive. “My whole working life has been in Customer Service and I understand the importance of delivering excellence, whether that’s in the way you sell a product, how you receive a telephone order or the actions of the driver when making a delivery. Every customer should be treated as if they are our only customer.”
Back at Stand 98 and in just their second week of employment, CTN and One Up’s newest recruits David Protheroe and Rob Forey were certainly put through their paces, yet remained enthusiastic throughout. “I’ve really enjoyed demonstrating to new clients our company ethos on providing good service”, commented Business Development Executive Rob. David added, “It’s exciting to join a company that has a vision for the future. I like that CTN invests in comprehensive training procedures to ensure that staff can share their expertise with both prospective and existing clients.”

As well as exhibiting, CTN was asked to supply flooring to a number of other stands at the show. Neil Fagg from Stand Out Magazine called upon CTN’s services to provide carpet for their seminar stand. “We were really impressed with the quality and speed of CTN’s service” he remarked. “They listened to our requirements, offered a solution and delivered the product, all within just two days. And we were delighted that the red velour carpet matched our brand colour exactly. It was the perfect finishing touch to our seminar room.”
The winners of the best exhibition stand at the show also ordered their carpet from CTN. Gary Bennett from Baconinflate said “CTN were provided with the plans for our structure and they then offered us a variety of products to choose from. Once we had made our choice the product was delivered to the site quickly and fitted for us when we requested. The whole ordering process was amazingly quick and hassle free. We were very pleased.”
And always happy to go the extra mile to put a smile on people’s faces, CTN were handing out cash prizes to people who matched the serial number on their postcards to those on the £50 notes displayed on the stand.
